NEWAG Presents Griffin 200 Electric Locomotive for PKP Intercity at InnoTrans 2026

Polish rolling stock manufacturer NEWAG used this year’s InnoTrans in Berlin to present one of its flagship products: the Griffin 200 electric locomotive EU200-032, built for Polish long-distance operator PKP Intercity.

The locomotive is part of the manufacturer’s anniversary celebration year. Carrying a special “NEWAG Group 150, 1876–2026” logo on its side, the train is also branded with “Griffin 200”.

With a top speed of 200 km/h, the Griffin 200 electric locomotive EU200-032 is perfect for the growing network of fast long-distance services.

The delivered units are part of a larger order, with 15 of these multi-system locomotives being ordered in total. Their ability to run under different power systems is central to the plan: the Griffins are intended for service not only in Poland but also in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

This would allow cross-border trains to run through without time-consuming locomotive changes at national borders.

Guests at InnoTrans 2026 were given the chance to step on board the train, with a set of stairs leading to the drivers’ workspace.

This new fleet marks a step toward faster and more seamless international rail connections across Central Europe.
