IN PICTURES: Alstom Presents Traxx Universal Locomotives at InnoTrans 2026

Alstom has presented both its Traxx Universal locomotives for Railpool and Captrain during this year’s InnoTrans show in Berlin.

Both units are on display at Messe Berlin, where Alstom is also showcasing it’s new Coradia Stream intercity train for Trenitalia.

The first new-build locomotive authorised in France for over a decade; the Traxx Universal for Railpool is one of fifty units set for use across the country. Equipped with Onvia onboard signalling technology, as well as last-mile functionality, the locomotive aims to provide seamless cross-border operations across the East-West corridor whilst delivering maximum operational flexibility.

Meanwhile, the Traxx Universal for Captrain forms part of an order of over 30 locomotives destined for various entities across Europe. This unit is also equipped with Onvia onboard signalling and last-mile functionality, and will be used across Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Poland.

Both units possess energy-efficient Mitrac traction converters and drive solutions, as well as Flexx Power bogies which aim to provide smooth and reliable operation.

The locomotives are compatible with a wealth of digital solutions, such as Alstom’s HealthHub for condition-based and predictive maintenance, as well as the digital automatic coupler.

Alstom has sold over 500 Traxx Universal locomotives to date, and has thus far equipped more than 100 locomotives with last-mile functionality.
