Stadler has been awarded a new contract to build eight CITYLINK tram-trains for operation in the Danish city of Aarhus.

The vehicles are being designed specifically for the region’s adverse weather, and will utilise onboard battery technology allowing them to continue operation even when overhead wires are iced over.

Signed between both Aarhus Letbane and Stadler; the contract also includes an option for twelve additional vehicles, as well as spare parts management.

All vehicles will be designed and manufactured at Stadler Valencia.

Iñigo Parra, CEO Stadler Valencia, said:

This agreement embodies our shared vision for sustainable mobility. Together with Aarhus Letbane, we are committed to creating solutions that make public transport more attractive and accessible for all.

With CITYLINK, we are helping Aarhus move toward a smarter, greener, and fully integrated transport system that meets the needs of today while anticipating those of tomorrow.

When used in a four-car configuration; the trains are capable of accommodating up to 324 passengers, with 152 seated. 16 folding seats are also available onboard.

Passengers with reduced mobility will be able to utilise sliding steps and a dedicated wheelchair space at both end cars.
