Smart Design Secures Smooth Cable Trough Fixing to Bridge

Some careful design and planning work allowed for a successful attachment of our ARCOSYSTEM cable troughing to a steel railway bridge.
The project took place on a lengthy bridge over the River Lesum near the city of Bremen in northern Germany.
Following the straightforward installation of ARCOSYSTEM cable troughing across either end the bridge, an issue was identified in the central section of the structure where the troughing had to be raised slightly in two places to make the cable route more robust where it needed to be clamped to a pair of slanting beams.
The bracket fixings also needed to fit around the many rivets within the steel beams to form a flush finish and firm attachment. After considered planning and design work by the installation team, the delicate job was completed with the ARCO troughing raised moderately at the two necessary points and still running fluidly all the way across the bridge.
ARCOSYSTEM is manufactured from pultruded glass fibre reinforced polymers (GRP/FRP) in affiliation with our Swiss partners, Castioni Kabelführungssysteme GmbH. The sturdy composite construction ensures long-term durability in all climates, while its lightweight design means ARCO can be installed quickly and efficiently, spanning up to 6m between supports. The complementary range of bespoke bracketry allows the troughing to be adjusted for height and directional changes to get around any obstacles during a difficult or awkward cable route.
