CMC and CAF to build Cosenza tram line

THE Calabrian Department of public works signed a €98m contract with a consortium of Italy’s CMC Group and CAF on July 25 for the construction of a 10km tram line in Cosenza.
The 950mm-gauge north-south line will link the University of Calabria with Piazza Riforma in Cosenza. The line will be electrified at 750V dc and services will be operated by a fleet of CAF Urbos LRVs.
The project is due to be completed by the beginning of 2020.
