Hormozgan Ports Post Strong Performance in First Five Months Despite War, Sanctions, and Naval Blockade
The Acting Director General of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime has reported significant performance container operations, and vessel traffic during the first five months of the current year.
Hamidreza Mohammadhosseini Takhti, referring to the performance recorded at ports under this directorate's management during the first five months of the year, stated that from the beginning of Farvardin to the end of Mordad, a total of 799,020 tons of oil and non-oil loading and unloading operations were recorded at Shahid Bahonar Port and East of Hormozgan ports.
He added that of this amount, 771,987 tons were non-oil goods, including 254,238 tons of unloading and 517,749 tons of loading.
Mohammadhosseini Takhti continued that in the non-oil goods sector during this period, 20,573 tons of imports, 484,495 tons of exports, 54,356 tons of transit, 36,964 tons of cabotage, and 175,599 tons of other operations were recorded.
The Acting Director General also reported 27,937 TEU of container loading and unloading operations at Shahid Bahonar Port and East of Hormozgan ports during the first five months, of which 15,790 TEU were full containers and 12,147 TEU were empty containers.
Referring to the continuation of maritime and port activities during this period, he added that from the beginning of Farvardin to the end of Mordad, 6,008 vessels entered the ports under this directorate's management, of which 98 were vessels over 1,000 tons and 5,910 were vessels under 1,000 tons.
Emphasizing the importance of continued port operations under current difficult conditions, Mohammadhosseini Takhti stated that recording this volume of operations and uninterrupted service during the first five months of the year — under wartime conditions, oppressive sanctions, and naval blockade — demonstrates the readiness, resilience, and high capacity of Shahid Bahonar Port and East of Hormozgan ports.
