PMO News Portal - Hamidreza Mohammadhosseini Takhti, Director of Ports and Maritime Affairs for Shahid Bahonar, announced significant growth in port operations over the first five months of 2025. Highlighting the strong performance from March 21 to August 22, he reported a 47 percent increase in the handling of both oil and non-oil goods compared to the same period last year. Non-oil cargo alone saw a 60 percent rise.

During this period, unloading operations increased by 19 percent, loading rose by 69 percent, imports grew by 27 percent, and exports surged by 78 percent. Transit of non-oil goods at Shahid Bahonar and East Hormozgan ports expanded by 90 percent, while oil cargo transit experienced a remarkable growth of 278 percent.

Mohammadhosseini Takhti further noted that vessel traffic at these ports increased by six percent year-on-year, surpassing 12,000 vessel movements in total. Despite the challenges of the recent 12-day conflict, port and maritime operations continued uninterrupted, a testament to the dedication of the port staff and operators.

In addition, approximately 35,000 TEU containers were handled across the port network comprising Shahid Bahonar, Sirik, and Jask, with truck entries reaching over 71,000—a 51 percent increase compared to last year.

The director emphasized that this upward trend reflects the strategic importance of Shahid Bahonar and East Hormozgan ports in maritime trade and underscores their crucial role in bolstering the country’s economic growth.
