Wabtec acquires Gerken Group

TIN news:   Wabtec Corp has acquired Gerken Group, which manufactures components for the rail sector including carbon brushes, pantograph carbon strips, earth return units and diagnostic equipment, as well as carbon components for the power generation and industrial sectors.
Gerken has its main manufacturing facilities in Belgium, the Czech Republic, France and Germany, and annual sales of about US$40m primarily in the aftermarket and outside North America.
‘Gerken’s range of specialty products expands our capabilities with existing customers and in new markets’, said Wabtec’s President & CEO Raymond T Betler on August 2. ‘The company will also be a good strategic fit with other Wabtec divisions, including Fandstan and Fulmer, and with our friction businesses.’
