TIN news:    More than 50,000 passengers have travelled on London's Night Tube service, which launched on Friday
The Night Tube carried passengers on the Central and Victoria lines. Among them was London's Mayor Sadiq Khan, who travelled on the Victoria Line from Brixton.
Khan said: “It's wonderful that so many thousands of Londoners were able to benefit from a faster and simpler journey home overnight.
“The Night Tube is going to provide a huge boost to our capital and very clearly demonstrates London is open".
"Passenger volume on Friday and Saturday nights has increased by nearly 70% in London since 2000."
Capable of reducing late-night journey times by an average of 20 minutes, Night Tube will help people enjoy the city night life, provide easier access to airports, and get to and from working shifts.
Since 2000, passenger volume on Friday and Saturday nights has increased by nearly 70% in London and demand for travel on night buses has also risen by more than 170% during the same period.
Passenger data has revealed more than 50% of people using night buses will benefitdirectly from the Night Tube, which is expected to support nearly 2,000 permanent jobs in London's night-time economy.
Night Tube has also created more than 500 jobs, including part-time drivers, station staff, maintenance workers, and service control staff.
The Greater London Authority is investing an additional £3.4m towards policing for the service.
