ANA to merge NCA and other cargo units into ANA Nippon Cargo

The merger will see ANA bring its three cargo units – ANA Cargo, Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) and NCA Japan – together as ANA Nippon Cargo Airlines, which will operate under the brand ANA Nippon Cargo.
ANA said that Nippon Cargo Airlines will continue as the operating entity, maintaining its Air Transport Business License and Air Operator Certificate.
The new brand name will come into use from 1 April, while the new company name is scheduled for change in the second half of the 2027 financial year.
“This integration aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the ANA Group’s cargo business by combining the expertise of ANA Cargo as a combination carrier with the specialised know-how of NCA and NCAJ as dedicated freighter operators,” ANA said.
“By further enhancing the synergy between its passenger flight network and freighter operations, the group will provide end-to-end solutions—integrating everything from sales to flight operations and cargo handling.
“This will allow the group to be more responsive to customer needs and the rapidly changing market, ultimately delivering even greater convenience and value to its customers.”
ANA has been gradually combining its cargo businesses over recent months. The companies have expanded collaboration through shared cargo capacity and code-sharing, particularly across North America and Europe.
Other key initiatives include: unifying sales structure outside Japan so customers have a single point of contact regardless of the operating carrier; consolidating warehouse operations in Japan starting with pcik-up and drop-off at Chubu and Kansai; and streamlining cargo handling outside Japan.
Consolidation of operations outside of Japan will begin with arrival cargo operations at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
“Additional unification of sales structures in Japan and further consolidation of warehouse operations across domestic and international airports are currently under consideration,” ANA said.
“By combining NCA’s dedicated freighter network with ANA’s international passenger network, the group aims to become Asia’s leading combination carrier while delivering greater flexibility, reliability and value to customers,” the company added.
ANA added that the reorganisation would also support its goal of achieving Y30bn in integration and synergy effects following the takeover of NCA.
