Oman’s LCC SalamAir has signed a 10-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Mach Aerospace International (MAI) to establish a new facility for aircraft wheels and brakes maintenance at Muscat International Airport.
Under the agreement, SalamAir will provide MAI with a full suite of specialized wheels and brakes shop tools, while MAI will manage the setup and operation of the new maintenance workshop.
The facility is expected to serve SalamAir’s expanding fleet as well as other local and regional carriers.
Mohammed Abdullah Al Khonji, chairman of SalamAir, said, “By anchoring advanced maintenance capabilities within the Sultanate, we are fostering self-sufficiency in critical aviation services and ensuring that technical expertise, innovation, and economic value remain within our borders.”
He added: “This collaboration goes beyond operational efficiency; it supports Oman’s broader economic development goals by creating specialized employment opportunities, enabling technology transfer, and supporting the growth of high-value industries in line with Vision 2040.”
Founded in 2017 by the Muscat National Development Investment Company, SalamAir operates more than 80 daily flights with a fleet of 15 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
The airline plans to expand its fleet to 25 aircraft by 2028 as part of its long-term growth strategy.
