Swiss WorldCargo, the airfreight division of Zurich-based Swiss International Air Lines, has launched flights to new destinations in Asia, South America and Africa for the Winter season.

The carrier will begin twice-weekly services to Colombo, Sri Lanka on November 3 and will start flying to Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon at the same frequency on November 15.

Swiss WorldCargo will serve Buenos Aires, Argentina from November 7, also twice-weekly. Seasonal flights to Mahé in the Seychelles commenced on September 22.

“The introduction of these new routes offers great new opportunities for us,” said Ashwin Bhat, head of cargo with Swiss International Air Lines.

Bhat added: “This shows the impressive intercontinental footprint of both Swiss International Air Lines and Swiss WorldCargo.

"In addition to our increased cargo capacity with the arrival of new Boeing 777-300ERs, new destinations allow us to showcase our best-in-class quality and service on a variety of global routes.”

The new additions complement the airline’s existing services to Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore and Phuket in Asia, as well as South American destinations such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Swiss is in the process of phasing out its Airbus 340-300 aircraft, replacing them with Boeing 777-300ERs.
