AAT takes over Hong Kong Airlines cargo handling

TINNews |

Asia Airfreight Terminals (AAT) has begun handling cargo for Hong Kong Airlines and its freight subsidiary Hong Kong Air Cargo at their home hub in the Special Administrative Region.

The agreement had been announced in March but only came into effect on 8 November.

Kuah Boon Kiam, general manager for AAT, said: “Hong Kong Airlines and Hong Kong Air Cargo Carrier … are the second-biggest airline group in Hong Kong and in anticipation of their arrival, we have upgraded our facilities, manpower and equipment in order to better meet their requirements as a hub carrier.”

Separately, Hong Kong Air Cargo has entered into an agreement with 4PX Express to carry out several all-cargo charter flights between Hong Kong and major cities in Asia during China’s annual ‘Nov 11 online shopping carnival’, in order to meet anticipated demand for cross-border airfreight capacity.

A statement from the airline said: “The deep collaboration with 4PX Express will be a crucial step for Hong Kong Air Cargo to enter the Mainland China logistic market” – particularly that country’s e-commerce market – with further development in this area planned for the future.
