17% Rise in Border Fleet Traffic from Khorasan Razavi Crossings
The Director General of Road Maintenance and Transportation of Razavi (Central) Khorasan announced that over 367,000 fleet crossings — including inbound and outbound transit as well as export-import traffic — were recorded at the province’s active borders during the first eight months of the current year, marking a 17% increase compared with the same period last year.
Jafar Shahamat noted a 21% rise in freight tonnage from the province’s borders during this period, stating that 117,463 trucks carrying 2,513,000 tons of transit cargo departed the country, reflecting a 19% growth. Additionally, over 38,628 trucks transporting 966,000 tons of transit cargo entered the country, representing a 48% increase in traffic year-on-year.
He added that the number of export cargo carriers reached 73,000 trucks and import carriers totaled 4,887 trucks, showing respective increases of 9% and 1%.
