RMTO Prioritizes Development of Dual-Purpose Service and Service Areas over Transit Routes
The Member of the Board and Head of Legal Affairs, Investment and Freeways at the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, GholamHossein Daghagheleh, has announced the RMTO's strategic chief objectives for the current Iranian year, including the construction of small-scale service and welfare areas and the development of dual-purpose facilities along the national transit and arterial routes.

According to Mr. Daghaleh, these objectives were highlighted during a managerial brainstorming session, stressing the critical need for enhanced oversight of welfare service complexes, particularly during high-traffic periods such as the Arbaeen pilgrimage, which sees a significant surge in pilgrim transportation.
Key Infrastructure Initiatives
Mr. Daghaleh outlined several key initiatives aimed at bolstering the country's transportation infrastructure, including:
• Equipping Cargo Terminals with Fire Stations: Efforts are underway to enhance safety measures at cargo terminals.
• Borders Development: Financial resources and investment opportunities are being mobilized for the construction and development of border crossings in Astara, Bazargan, Tamarchin, Sero and Razi.
• Expansion of Logistics Infrastructure: Plans are in place to establish specialized logistics parks and centers along the country's roadways, leveraging investment opportunities within cargo and border crossings.
Recent Achievements and Ongoing Projects
Mr. Daghaleh also noted the successful release of 7,600 square meters of land at the Akbarabad cargo terminal and described this as a critical step towards expanding logistics operations. Additionally, the organization has prioritized investment in key freeway corridors, including Kashan-Isfahan, Zanjan-Tabriz and Qom-Salfchegan cooperative freeways.
Public-Private Partnerships and Legal Frameworks
In addressing the financial sustainability of infrastructure projects, Mr. Daghaleh referenced last year’s adjustment of toll rates on state-owned freeways, reiterating the RMTO's ongoing evaluation of private-sector participation through public-private partnership models, particularly for the maintenance, operation and improvement of state-owned freeways.
Moreover, Mr. Daghaleh announced that a comprehensive legal office system for the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization is currently under development and is expected to be completed in the coming months. This system aims to streamline legal and investment processes and enhance operational efficiencies across the organization.
Commitment to Excellence
The Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization remains committed to improving the quality of services provided to travelers and stakeholders. By fostering investment, enhancing infrastructure, and adopting innovative models of public-private cooperation, the organization is positioning itself as a leader in the region’s transportation and logistics sector.
