Polish operator Koleje Mazowieckie (Masovian Railways) has awarded a contract for the delivery of 11 additional FLIRT electric multiple units (EMUs) to Stadler Polska, completing its largest-ever investment programme to date.

The framework agreement will see a total of 75 FLIRT units supplied to the operator, with 64 already contracted.

Once in operation; the vehicles will be used to improve passenger comfort across Masovia.

Adam Struzik, Marshal of Masovian Voivodeship, said:

Mazovian Railways is one of the most modern regional carriers in the country, partly because they are constantly investing in new rolling stock. In March, we signed a contract for the purchase of 14 FLIRT trains, and today we signed another contract, this time for 11 trains. In total, the entire project will include the purchase of 75 trains, and the first of them will be on the tracks in April 2026.

The contract also covers maintenance services, technical staff training and repair packages.

All new vehicles will be manufactured at Stadler’s Siedlce plant and involve input from a number of local partners and suppliers.

The order is currently progressing on schedule, with 25 units now at various stages of manufacturing, commissioning and type testing.

Upon completion; Masovian Railways will operate 146 FLIRT trains – the largest fleet of its kind in Poland.

All units will be constructed using lightweight aluminium, be capable of reaching speeds of up to 160 km/h and be fully equipped with air conditioning, CCTV, Wi-Fi, passenger information system and onboard defibrillators.
