Imam Khomeini Port, located in Khuzestan Province, is currently handling the simultaneous unloading of eight vessels carrying a combined 220,683 tons of basic commodities. Operations are proceeding without interruption to support the country’s critical supply needs.

The port has also stockpiled more than 2.7 million tons of basic commodities in its specialized warehouses, ensuring consistent availability across domestic markets.

Strategic Role in National Supply Chain

Dawood Chegini, Deputy Director of Port and Economic Affairs at the Khuzestan Ports and Maritime Organization, emphasized the port's round-the-clock operations, modern infrastructure, and skilled workforce in maintaining seamless cargo flows.

According to Chegini, the port plays a pivotal role in meeting Iran’s growing demand for staple imports, with coordinated efforts by customs and logistics authorities to accelerate delivery.

Customs Data Confirms National Import Share

Recent customs data shows that over 58 percent of all essential goods imported into Iran enter through Imam Khomeini Port. In contrast, Shahid Rajaee Port accounts for only about 8 percent of such imports.

Amirabad Port in Mazandaran Province ranks second with approximately 13 percent, followed by the ports of Nowshahr, Chabahar, and Anzali.

These statistics further highlight Imam Khomeini Port’s central role in sustaining the country’s strategic commodity reserves.
