Vessel shot by Libyan Coast Guard reaches Malta

TINNews |

The Comoros-flagged vessel which allegedly refused to obey instructions ordered by the Libyan Coast Guard, while underway in the area of Bukhamash, west of Zuwarah, has reappeared on the radars in Malta.

To remind, Libyan forces fired at the ‘Goeast’ oil products tanker, with 30mm ammunition, after the vessel allegedly refused to obey instructions ordered by the Coast Guard.

The ship’s fuel tanks and engine compartment were damaged because of the firing. Local media had reported at that time that the firing caused the ship to sink.

However, according to latest AIS data by Marine Traffic, the damaged vessel has reached Maltese waters, but remains in ‘restricted manoeuvrability’.
