Boeing in Europe
TIN news: Boeing’s history with Europe goes back to Wilhelm Böing, father of company founder Bill Boeing, who was born in Hohenlimburg, Germany and emigrated to the United States in 1868. In 1916, Bill Boeing established a company that has become the world’s leading aviation and aerospace enterprise and a global industry icon.
A European heritage and global perspective are key tenets of our active local presence and remain at the root of our contribution to Europe’s economic and technological growth. Boeing has been a part of the European aerospace community for many decades and directly employs nearly 4,000 people in 18 European countries. The impact of the company on Europe’s growth is even wider: Boeing commercial and defence programmes support in total more than 136,000 jobs across Europe.
In 2014, Boeing sourced more than €6.5 billion in airplane components andassemblies from European based companies. We are proud to have delivered more than 5,000 commercial aircraft to 125 European customers that value our commercial platforms. Boeing’s advanced defence solutions are in service with 23 European armed forces and play a key role in EU and NATO peacekeeping operations worldwide.
