Iran to purchase electricity from Azerbaijan

TINNews |

TIN news:  In case Iran needs additional power in summer months, Azerbaijan will meet a part of this demand in accordance with the agreement reached, Iran’s Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian told APA.

Reminding that his country’s need for energy increases in summer months, the minister said that the matter is about 130 MW.

“Necessary infrastructure has been created for energy exchange,” he added.

The transmission lines of both countries were synchronized in August 2016.

Azerbaijan has already turned from a country importing electricity to the country exporting it. The export potential is growing, while the country enjoys the relevant infrastructure for transmission of electricity.
