Addressing the 14th Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Transport Ministers in Kazakhstan, H.E. Farzaneh Sadegh, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development stressed the critical need for logistical optimization across the region.
"The advancement of road transport and the facilitation of cross-border transit are imperative strategies for achieving tangible outcomes in regional trade," Minister Sadegh stated. "Minimizing truck dwell times, comprehensively streamlining customs formalities, harmonizing transport documentation, and fostering seamless information exchange among border authorities play a decisive role in elevating the global competitiveness of our transit routes."
To operationalize this vision, the Minister put forward a strategic proposal: "It is highly recommended that the ECO Secretariat, in close synergy with member states, prioritize the identification of logistical bottlenecks at border crossings. Furthermore, the harmonization of customs procedures, the efficient exchange of documents and data, and the formulation of a comprehensive, time-bound action plan to eradicate these barriers must be placed at the forefront of our collective agenda."
