Southern Sistan and Baluchestan Records 65% Surge in Cargo Transport During Current Fiscal Year
The Director General of Road Maintenance and Transportation in Southern Sistan and Baluchestan announced a significant 65% year-on-year increase in cargo transport from the provincial southern borders to destinations across the country over the past ten months of the current Iranian calendar year. The total freight volume reached 6,351,193 tons.
Ebrahim Abdollahi stated that this substantial cargo transport was executed through 361,948 trucks journeys. He further detailed that 109 active domestic transport companies within the southern region of the province facilitated these operations, utilizing a fleet of over 1,246 heavy-duty trucks manned by 1,507 drivers.
Abdollahi stressed the crucual role of Southern Sistan and Baluchestan's strategic position, particularly the Port of Chabahar, in advancing transit and freight transport development. He affirmed that the provincial administration is committed to leveraging all available resources to streamline transport processes, support the freight fleet, and enhance service delivery to stakeholders in the logistics sector.
