Over 3.5 Million Travelers Crossed West Azerbaijan’s Border Crossings in the First 7 Months of the Current Iranian Year
Over 3.5 million passengers have passed through West Azerbaijan’s border crossings during the first 7 months of this year, marking a 2.58 percent increase compared with the same period last year, according to Harvey Modarres, Head of the Transit Bureau at the Provincial Road Maintenance and Transportation Directorate.
Mr. Modarres further stated that the Razi border recorded the highest passenger traffic, incorporating over 1.069 million travelers, followed by Tamarchin BCP with over one million crossings.
He added that 6,835 passenger transport vehicles used the province’s borders during the same period, with Tamarchin BCP accounting for 3,095 vehicles—a 2 percent rise year on year.
The official noted that ongoing infrastructure upgrades and service improvements across West Azerbaijan’s border facilities have significantly contributed to the growth in travel. Facilitating smoother movement and providing higher quality services for passengers, he stressed, remain among the department’s top operational priorities.
