Transport for London Confirms Christmas Schedule

All services will run on Christmas Eve (Wednesday 24 December), but are currently scheduled to finish early, with no service on the majority of public transport on Christmas Day and some parts of the network on Boxing Day (including the Elizabeth Line). A Sunday service is set to operate on the London Underground, London Buses and on London Trams.

Services will run through the night on New Year’s Eve, but passengers have been advised that due to busy periods some stations may be closed at short notice or during busy times to prevent overcrowding. A small handful of bus services in central London will also be on diversion as a result of road closures from mid-day onwards.

The DLR is set to run an amended service between Saturday 13 December and Sunday 04 January, with TfL intending to use the opportunity to preserve the older fleet and ensure a stronger service during busier times. Service changes include:

• From Saturday 13 December to Sunday 4 January: Bank to Lewisham will operate a 2-car service
• Monday 22 December to Friday 2 January: A Saturday timetable will run on normal weekdays
• Boxing Day: A reduced service will operate
• New Year’s Eve: A 15-minute service will run with 2-car trains on Bank to Lewisham
• New Year’s Day: A Sunday service will operate
• Monday 5 January: Normal service resumes

To make the most of the quieter schedule; TfL has stated it will work with Network Rail to carry out a number of improvements across the rail network at stations, on tracks and to signalling infrastructure.

London truly sparkles at this time of year, and we're delighted to help everyone experience the incredible entertainment, culture, shops, and celebrations the capital has to offer. TfL services remain the easiest, safest, and greenest way to get around and make the most of the season.

While the majority of the network will be running throughout the festive period, there will be some planned works and service changes, so we encourage customers to check before they travel and plan ahead for a smooth journey.

Elsewhere; TfL has confirmed that Victoria Coach Station, Santander Cycles, rental e-scooters, Dial-a-Ride, taxi and private hire services will all be available throughout the festive period, as well as on Christmas Day.

All walking and cycling routes will remain largely unaffected, apart from on New Year’s Eve, which will see roads in some areas in the capital closed, as well as the unavailability of some Santander Cycle docking stations.

The central London Congestion Charge will be suspended between Thursday 25 December and Thursday 01 January, with the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge set to apply as normal, including on Christmas Day. Charges for the use of both the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnel will also apply as normal, apart from on Christmas Day, where they will be suspended.
