Hapag Lloyd launches Indian Ocean-EU service line

Hapag-Lloyd announced its plan to boost its position in the Indian Ocean by launching a new service to connect the region to Northern Europe. The South-East-India - Europe Express service line will launch in October 2019.

Hapag-Lloyd announced its plan to boost its position in the Indian Ocean by launching a new service to connect the region to Northern Europe. The South-East-India - Europe Express service line will launch in October 2019.

Specifically, the new shipping line will consist of direct connections between India, the Middle East (Jeddah and Damietta) and Europe (Piraeus, Le Havre, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Hamburg and London Gateway).

Moreover, the above markets will be linked to Hapag-Lloyd's Global Mainline Network via the ports of Jebel Ali and Colombo, offering competitive connectivity to all other markets.

Also, the MIAX will be jointly operated with ONE composing of 9 x 2,800 TEU vessels with 5 ships being deployed by Hapag-Lloyd.

The company's statement informs that the service is scheduled to commence towards the end of week 40 in Jebel Ali with first arrival in South and West Africa in week 43 and week 45, respectively. So, first Africa export voyage would start week 45 / 47 (West Africa / South Africa).

The rotation will be: Jebel Ali - Mundra - Nhava Sheva - Colombo - La Reunion - Durban- Cape Town - Tema - Lagos (Tincan and Apapa) - Cape Town - Durban - Jebel Ali.
