Honeywell to install new airfield ground lighting system at Singapore Changi Airport
TIN news: US-based company Honeywell International has secured a contract to deploy a new airfield ground lighting control and monitoring system at Singapore Changi Airport.
The new Honeywell solution will help Singapore Changi Airport to safely and efficiently handle the expected rise in aircraft traffic.
Changi Airport Group Engineering and Development managing director Koh Ming Sue said: “Since its opening in 1981, Changi Airport has been recognised for ensuring safety in its airfield.
“The new Honeywell airfield lighting control and monitoring system serves as an important cog in our broader expansion plans to help upkeep our safety and efficiency performance even as air traffic demand grows beyond the capacity of our existing two runways.”
The current project is part of the airport’s expansion plans, which also includes the construction of a new three-runway system.
Honeywell will integrate its airfield ground lighting control and monitoring system throughout all three runways, taxiways and apron lighting, in addition to facility control and management areas.
The latest Honeywell Individual Lamp Control and Monitoring System installed at Changi Airport will help streamline operations and maximise ground traffic flow.
The system will also enable the Southeast Asian airport to collect real-time data on approach and runway lighting lamp failures, enabling faster repairs.
