Bombardier selects Nomad to install Wi - Fi service for Queensland Rail

TIN news:   Train manufacturer Bombardier has selected wireless services provider Nomad Digital to deploy a full end-to-end passenger Wi-Fi service in the southern hemisphere.

As part of the order from Queensland Rail, a government-owned operator in Australia, Nomad will equip 75 new six-car Bombardier trains with its solution.

Through this project, Queensland Rail aims to enhance passenger services in south-east Queensland, Australia.

Nomad APAC general manager Moin Majid said: "Nomad's selection as the provider for passenger Wi-Fi onboard 75 new Bombardier trains is a testament to both its innovative solution, as well as its successful deployments on Australian trains to date.

Recently, Nomad was chosen by Amtrak, the US national railroad passenger corporation, to supply an onboard passenger information solution for its national network of inter-city passenger trains.

Nomad Group CEO Andrew Taylor said: "Nomad has a tried and tested technology that currently informs and entertains approximately 1.7 billion passengers per year.

"Amtrak's selection of the Nomad solution is a further testament to its success, as well as a recognition of its value in multiple continents across the globe."

Amtrak operates around 300 trains a day, which link more than 500 destinations in 46 US states.

The installation of Nomad's passenger information technology on Amtrak's network will start in late 2015
