UK maritime sector highlighted ahead of Brexit

In line with its plans to enhance digitalization in shipping, the Danish Maritime Authority announced that the Ship Station License has now become digital, reducing the number of administrative burdens imposed on the industry. The DMA has recently digitized other ship certificates too.

Director Rasmus Høy Thomsen noted that one of the advantages of a digital Ship Station License is that it is always available online and, at the same time, it is possible for foreign authorities to have the validity of the certificate confirmed through verification on the DMA website.

The application form and the case consideration system have also been redeveloped and optimised, so that it becomes possible to process applications faster and more smoothly. The new system is expected to be an advantage to merchant ships, fishing vessels and pleasure craft that have radio installations on board.
