TEN completes 15 vessel newbuilding program

TEN (Tsakos Energy Foundation) announced the delivery of the ice-class Aframax tanker Bergen TS, the last in the 15 vessel, pre-employed on long-term business, growth program, which increased the size of TEN’s fleet by 30% over the last 18 months.

Bergen TS was delivered on October 27 and is the last of the 15 vessels.

The first of the ships was the 300,000 dwt VLCC ‘Ulysses’, which was delivered on May 2016.

After the first delivery, nine Aframaxes and two Panamax LR1 were hande out.

Furthermore, an LNG carrier and another VLCC were also delivered, as well as a DP2 Shuttle.

In 2016, Tsakos Columbia Shipmanagement (TCM) announced that they have applied one of the aframax tankers, ELIAS TSAKOS, for Green Award certification. The tanker passed the survey requirements smoothly and became Tsakos Columbia’s fifth oil tanker to be certified by Green Award.

ELIAS TSAKOS was delivered at the end of June and is the first of the nine assigned for long-term charter with an Oil Major.
