Clean Marine secures scrubber contact for seven tankers

TINNews |

Clean Marine, an Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS) company, has secured a multi-vessel contract from Inventor Chemical Tankers AS (ICT), marking the launch of the company’s CleanSOx Compact Hybrid Allstream scrubber.

After a examining EGCS suppliers, ICT has partnered with Clean Marine and Technical Manager Diamond Shipmanagement, to manage the installation and commissioning of the systems aboard seven 19900 DWT chemical tankers, built between 2015 and 2017. All vessels were ECO designed and built by the Japanese-based Fukuoka Shipyard.

The vessels will be equipped with the ‘Allstream’ system, a system that can treat exhaust from all sources onboard vessels with no back pressure in the exhaust system.

This will result in a minimal impact upon the vessel, maximizing the emission cleaning performance and helping it to comply with the IMO’s SOx regulations, coming into force in 2020, the company said.

“Considering parameters such as Allstream, size, weight, design, hybrid technology, and the total associated cost to have it installed and commissioned onboard, we believe we have found the optimal EGCS solution for our chemical tankers,” said ICT Chief Operating Officer Torfin Eide.
