Khalij Fars Oil Port storage capacity to hit ۱.۸mn tons

TIN news:   Capacity of oil storage tanks in Khalij Fars Oil Port will surge from 300 thousand to 1.8 million tons following investments made by the private sector.
Managing Director of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) Mohammad Saeednejad made the remarks while visiting Khalij Fars Oil Port development projects Shahid rajaee Special Economic Zone in Hormozgan province.
“Given the private sector investment and bank support, storage tanks, transmission pipelines, fire extinguishing facilities as well as mooring docks are being constructed in the southern Iranian port,” he added.
The official noted that so far 27 private sector companies have made investments worth more than 260 million dollars in Khalij Fars Oil Port; “the ten berths of the port will be exporting and transiting numerous oil products including fuel oil, gasoline, base oil as well as bitumen.
Saeednejad further highlighted that “in addition to loading and unloading petroleum products, the Iranian port will increase fuel supply to ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.”
“Turning Khalij Fars port into an energy and fuel hub in the Persian Gulf marks a major policy pursued by Iran’s PMO,” stressed the official concluding “ships with a capacity of 50,000 tons will replace the current seven-thousand-ton ships in the southern Iranian port.”
