Ikegami installs HD train monitoring systems at JR Tokai Line in Tokyo

TIN news:        Professional video camera system manufacturer Ikegami Tsushinki has collaborated with the Central Japan Railway to equip the Japan Rail Tokai Shinkansen line station platforms with HD vertical-monitoring systems to improve customer safety.

Ikegami has also partnered with Semtech, a supplier of analogue and mixed-signal semiconductors, to drive high-performance video monitoring systems that deliver the highest quality HD images over longer distances than existing digital video transmission systems.

The HD vertical monitoring system features Semtech's HD-VLC technology to achieve long-distance (up to 300m) transmission of HD video and full HD image quality provided by the ISD-220HD 'broadcast-quality' cameras.
"Semtech continues to be the technology leader in all digital, long-distance HD video transmission for surveillance."

The HD video is displayed portrait to increase the visibility and coverage of the platform in crystal-clear, high -definition.

The company noted that more JR Shinkansen stations will be equipped with Ikegami systems in the near future.

Ikegami security solution business unit general manager Masaaki Tabuse said: "By integrating Semtech's HD-VLC technology into our products, we are able to deliver the highest-quality HD video monitoring solutions, consistent with our philosophy.

"Large-scale video monitoring installations for railway platforms can take advantage of the extended cable reach transmission that our HD-VLC-based products enable."

Semtech's HD visually lossless CODEC (HD-VLC) technology offers unprecedented levels of cable reach performance and allows long-distance transmission of high-quality HD digital video.

Semtech signal integrity product group executive vice-president and general manager Gary Beauchamp said: "Semtech continues to be the technology leader in all digital, long-distance HD video transmission for surveillance."
