Startups and tech firms active in space science gathered for a three-day event in Tehran on July 7 to review challenges and opportunities in the field.

Jointly organized by Iranian Space Agency, Iranian Space Research Center and Iran National Innovation Fund, the event will run until Tuesday.

According to ISNA, over 110 such private tech firms and startups presented their latest products, achievements and ideas.

In addition, shortcomings besetting space research and technology development, urban location-based services, tasks of roads and energy ministries and natural resource management issues were introduced at the event. This was an opportunity for talented startups and tech firms to present smart solutions and products to solve problems related to the above-mentioned issues.

On the sidelines of the event, ISA and INIF signed an agreement to boost collaboration for holding conferences, exhibitions and startup weekends in the field of space science.

During the next two days of the gathering, conferences will be held to help exchange technologies, ideas and experiences. Workshops will be organized for fledgling startups and firms to enhance their productivity and creativity.

The move is in line with the government's policies on supporting knowledge-based companies and startups to ease the country's dependence on oil revenues and switch reliance on the digital economy and technological development.
