AET Tankers conducts its first LNG bunkering operation

AET Tankers, Petroleum and Chemical tanker owner, announced that its first LNG dual-fuel sister Aframaxes undertook their maiden ship-to-ship LNG bunkering in April. The company's vessels, Eagle Brasilia and Eagle Bintulu, conducted bunkering operations in Port of Rotterdam.

AET Tankers, Petroleum and Chemical tanker owner, announced that its first LNG dual-fuel sister Aframaxes undertook their maiden ship-to-ship LNG bunkering in April. The company's vessels, Eagle Brasilia and Eagle Bintulu, conducted bunkering operations in Port of Rotterdam.

Specifically, Ron Wood, Global Director, Mid-Size Tankers Crude Shipping, AET commented

"This first European port call for Eagle Brasilia and Eagle Bintulu, coupled with the vessel’s exciting first LNG bunkering."

He continued that the bunkering operation is a big success for AET driving LNG as a cleaner burning and viable fuel in the shipping industry.

This is the 113,000 dwt vessels’ first call to a port in Europe as they make their journey and tour of duty towards the Atlantic Basin.

Moreover, each vessel was loaded with 1.040 cubic metres of LNG, filling about 60% of the receiving vessel’s total capacity, allowing them a considerable trade mileage of about 3,600 nautical miles running on LNG fuel.

Concluding, the company's tankers, Eagle Brasilia and Eagle Bintulu, were inaugurated in October 2018 at the Samsung Heavy Industry (SHI) shipyard in Geoje, South Korea.
