Search for missing palm oil carrier continues

According to Indonesia's Ministry of Transport, the search for the crude palm oil tanker which has reportedly disappeared in Indonesian waters keeps on going and enters the third week. The communication with the vessel and its 12 crew members was lost on December 27.

Moreover, the Indonesian-flagged vessel was transporting crude palm oil from Sampit, Central Kalimantan, to Tanjug Priok Port in North Jakarta when it was last contacted and was operated by PT Surabaya Shipping Lines.

Up to now, the search and rescue efforts haven't been successful as there is no trace of the ship. Vessel tracking services have also lost track of the vessel.

According to the ministry's latest statement, the search area was being expanded from Sunda Strait to Semarang and deploying seven vessels to comb through the area.
