IRU’s Commission on Services (CSE) met in Geneva this week to add fuel to the digitalisation drive, harnessing the power of IRU member associations to lead the market in value added services across the world.

The agenda covered digital transport documents (with a focus on e-CMR), freight exchange platforms, electronic tolling systems as well as online shops. Increased automation of logistics processes, including autonomous vehicles, was also discussed.

The CSE worked to revise the draft IRU position on digitalisation, which will present the global road transport industry view on digitalisation opportunities and challenges.

The Commission represents IRU member associations from more than 30 countries, responsible for over 550,000 transport operators. It also comprises market leading vehicle manufacturers and service providers. Other vehicle manufacturers and businesses providing services to transport operators are encouraged to join the efforts to transform the market and lead innovation.

The next opportunity to discuss innovation, establish business partnerships and explore new opportunities will be at IRU World Congress in Oman, 6-8 November.
