ABB to provide SCADA and EAM software to TPG

TINNews |

ABB has received an order from Geneva's operator Transports Publics Genevois (TPG) to provide a solution comprising a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system and enterprise asset management (EAM) software.

The ABB Ability based solution will enable TPG to optimise the Trolleybus Optimisation Système Alimentation (TOSA) fully electric buses (e-buses).

TPG will use ABB Ability Network Manager SCADA system to monitor and control the power network for the charging stations and e-buses.

The SCADA system will be integrated with the ABB Ability Ellipse Select, EAM software using embedded best-practice parameters and industry-specific workflows.

ABB explained that the integration would further optimise the maintenance processes, enable a fast response to fault incidents and better predict maintenance needs.

Equipped with remote access and Cloud capabilities, the overall solution is scalable to meet future needs.

TPG Technical director Thierry Wagenknecht said: "This innovative solution will help us to proactively manage and maintain our critical e-bus assets, enabling more timely and effective decisions.

"In addition to cost optimisation, this new technology will also result in higher availability and less service interruption for our commuters."

Under this contract, ABB will deploy 13 flash-charging stations, three terminals in addition to four depot feeding stations along the transit bus route.

The flash-charging connection technology has the ability to connect the bus to the charging point in a short span of time.

Once connected, the onboard batteries can then be charged in 15 seconds with a 600kW power boost at the bus stop
