Tinn news: Managing Director for Public Relations Department of Iran Power Plant Projects Management Company (MAPNA) Behnam Haqiqi on Wednesday denied the news on release of seven kidnapped Iranian engineers by Syrian opposition groups.

He said it seems the news broadcast by different channels was totally wrong and the Iranian engineers are still in the captivity of the Syrian opposition groups.

'The news to this effect was first announced by an unnamed source in Ankara and when we called to verify the news they confirmed it but later they said that the swap took place and the Iranian engineers are in the captivity of the kidnappers,' he said.

On Friday, Iran aired a news on release of seven kidnapped Iranians by Syrian opposition forces.

The kidnapped Iranians were engaged in the construction of the first gas unit of Jandar Combined Cycle Power Plant in Syria before being kidnapped near the Syrian city of Homs on December 20.

MAPNA is a group of Iranian companies involved in construction and installation of energy generation machinery, including boilers, gas and steam turbines, electric generators, as well as industrial scale petroleum processing installations, railway locomotives and wind power plants.
