Rouhani: Peace in Eastern Europe important to Iran

TIN news:    President Hassan Rouhani told Ukraine's Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin that peace and stability in Eastern Europe is important to Iran.
In a Sunday meeting with Klimkin in Tehran, Rouhani said peaceful solutions are the only means to guarantee lasting peace and to resolve the regional crises.
The Iranian president described Ukraine as a friendly state in Eastern Europe and said “Tehran seeks further expansion of amiable relations” with Ukraine in all spheres, particularly in the economic and energy sectors.
"Interactions among banks of the two countries can pave the way for the enhancement of joint economic and trade cooperation," Rouhani said.
The top Ukrainian diplomat called Iran as a “great country” with a deep-rooted history and rich culture and said Kiev wants closer relations with Tehran.
In the roadmap designed to deepen Iran-Ukraine ties, Kiev seeks to bolster relations with the Islamic Republic in different fields, including economy, energy, science, tourism, culture and farming.
The Ukrainian official also had a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, during which Zarif said there are good opportunities for closer trade interaction between Iranian and Ukrainian companies in light of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a lasting nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers, Tasnim News Agency reported.
He underlined that Tehran and Kiev can launch cooperation in a broad range of fields, including higher education, scientific and technological issues, energy, power plant equipment, renewable energies, agriculture, cultural programs and tourism.
Klimkin also voiced Ukraine’s enthusiasm for cooperation with Iran in the power plant industry, aviation, renewable energies, nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, and student exchange programs via Iran-Ukraine joint commission on trade and economic cooperation.
