Delhi airport increases security after threat call

TIN news:    Security has been increased at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) following an anonymous call informing airport officials about the presence of a terrorist at the airport.
The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) declared this was a 'non-specific' call.
The airport received the call at 3.30am local time. The caller did not give any specific details.
Flights operated as scheduled.
IGIA sources were quoted by Press Trust of India saying: "At around 2.30am, the call centre of the Indira Gandhi International Airport received an anonymous call saying that someone from Amritsar present at the airport was a terrorist.

"Following the call, security agencies carried out a detailed screening of passengers at the airport."

"The information was immediately passed on to the airport authorities, as well as all the aviation security agencies."
The BTAC was formed to analyse the anonymous threat call. Following the call, security agencies carried out a detailed screening of passengers at the airport.
The non-specific threat call at IGI Airport is not a standalone incident. In January, the airport authority received a call about an impending bomb blast at the airport.
The non-specific call was made at the control room of private airport operator Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL).
