British Airways to install new scanners at Heathrow Airport for Apple watch users

TIN news:    British Airways is installing new 'Scan and Go' devices at Heathrow Airport in England, which will allow Apple watch users to speed up the check in process at the airport.
The move comes as the airline witnessed 386% increase in the usage of its Apple watch app between June and October.
Around 136 new scanners are being installed at the airport's terminal 3 and 5 and they will be ready for use on 15 December.
Passengers at the airport will be able to scan their boarding pass and print their own bag tags by slide their wrists under the scanners.
British Airways and mobile head Kevin McQuillan said: "We are always striving to make our customers' journeys easier through use of technology.

"When we saw the dramatic rise in the number of people using the app on their Apple watches we knew we needed to create new features in the terminal which would make the experience even better for them."
Using Apple watches customers can get real-time flight status, gate information, a countdown to the departure time and the weather at their destination.
The scanners can also be used by the five million customers who the app in their mobile phones.
British Airways is also planning to launch a new version of the app for iPads early next year which will provide all the existing functionality of the mobile app and include Highlife Entertainment listings.
