Austro Control implements upgraded version of surveillance data validation tool RAPS

TIN news:    Austrian air navigation service provider (ANSP) Austro Control has selected technology firm Comsoft's surveillance data validation tool RAPS-3 to improve evaluation of data derived through multiple sources.
The Eurocontrol qualified, Asterix test and reference tool has the capacity to handle up to 4,000 flights per day of air traffic in Austrian Airspace from nine radar stations at Buschberg, Feichtberg, Koralpe, Graz, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Linz, Salzburg and Vienna.
Data analysis results through the tool is derived from 32 various data sources, including classic and military radars, seven Mode-S, 11 MLAT/WAM, ARTAS Tracker, STCA and ADS-B sensors.
The tool can facilitate validation, filtration, conversion, generation and simulation of any kind of surveillance data, Comsoft said.
Site acceptance and training for the tool implementation was carried out last week in Vienna.
Comsoft will also be delivering benefits including express engineering support, free SW-updates, free updates due to Asterix evolutions and feature optimisation under a three-year support contract for Austro Control.
RAPS-3 is used by more than 100 civil and military customers and manufactures of radar or surveillance data equipment worldwide, the firm said.
The previous version of the tool RAPS-2 was also procured by Austro Control in 2001. The ANSP had recorded additional scope and enhanced benefits with the implementation, as compared to their ADS-B and MLAT environment.
