SITA installs its airport technology at Mexico’s Cancun Airport

TIN news:       Mexico-based privatised airport group ASUR has selected SITA's passenger management, airport operations and self-service technology for installation at its Cancun International Airport, to deliver better journey to 18 million passengers.

Cancun is one of the busiest airports in the Caribbean with around 800,000 passengers a month during peak seasons, along with a growth of 10% annually.

The Mexican airport experiences seasonal peaks along with a rise in number of passengers over weekends. Hence, fast turnaround time and efficient usage of facility are top priority.
"For more than a decade, SITA has worked closely with us to ensure that airlines and passengers have a great experience here."

As many as 84 airlines use the airport facility along with several wide-body charters bringing in huge number of passengers.

ASUR CEO/CFO Adolfo Castro Rivas said: "We face increasing passenger numbers each year and it is vital that we have the most efficient, reliable and future-proofed technology so that we manage that growth.

"For more than a decade, SITA has worked closely with us to ensure that airlines and passengers have a great experience here.

"As we grow we are confident that SITA will help us deliver their vision of the airport of the future and ensure that visitors to Cancun enjoy a smart, intelligent and connected airport."

SITA's technology is intended to help manage the peak passenger traffic smoothly, and ensure optimum utilisation of space and resources, aiding quick passenger manoeuvring through the airport.

Recently, during a renovation programme, ASUR had upgraded its passenger management platform to SITA AirportConnect Open.

This system aids the use of common-use passenger processing systems (CUPPS) and common-use self-service (CUSS) kiosks.
About 375 workstations and 80 self-service kiosks are in place at the airport, with nine self-service gates currently being installed along with SITA's new flight information display system.
