Night services on London Overground to begin in ۲۰۱۷

TIN news:        Rail commuters in London, UK, are set to benefit from the expansion of night-time services and the extended Wi-Fi service in all underground sections of the Tube.

The 24h weekend services on the London Overground will start in 2017 and will cover the East London Line with services from Dalston Junction or Highbury & Islington to New Cross Gate supporting the Shoreditch area.

Mayor Boris Johnson said: "Today, we have committed to additional night Tube services, the first 24h London Overground and the purchase of hundreds of brand-new buses.

"This, combined with the promise of future investment in projects such as Crossrail 2 and the Bakerloo Line extension, will ensure we keep the capital's economy moving well into the 21st century."

With the support of continued investment, the night-time services will also be expanded to the Metropolitan, Circle, District, and Hammersmith and City lines after the completion of Transport for London's ongoing modernisation programmes.

In addition, the Docklands Light Rail is expected to offer 24h services by 2021.

Transport for London (TfL) has also confirmed the extension of Wi-Fi to all underground sections of the Tube by the end of the next parliament. This new development comes under a wider government investment in data networks.

These new developments are part of a six-point, long-term economic plan set out by the London mayor and chancellor George Osborne.

This new plan will see a £10bn investment in London's transport over the next parliament, including new tube improvements.
