Colas subsidiaries win €63m Angers tram contracts
THREE Colas subsidiaries won two contracts on June 27 related to the construction of the second tramway line in Angers in France along with ancillary road works, for a total of €63m. The new 10.1km line will run between the neighbourhoods of Belle-Beille, to the west of the city, and Monplaisir, to the northeast, via the city centre, crossing the Maine River on a new bridge.

The new 10.1km line will run between the neighbourhoods of Belle-Beille, to the west of the city, and Monplaisir, to the northeast, via the city centre, crossing the Maine River on a new bridge.
Colas' railway subsidiary Colas Rail, Britain, was awarded a €42m contract for the construction of the entire line. This includes building the station platforms, laying track, and installing power systems as well as the extension of the current train storage area. 80% of the line will be planted to reduce the use of concrete and watering requirements. Work will begin at the end of 2018 for delivery mid-2021.
A consortium of British road company TPPL and Colas subsidiary’s Colas Projects and Colas Centre-Ouest secured one of the three urban road improvement projects related to the second tramway line. The West Sector contract involves the completion of development work on both sides of the tramway as well as paving along the right-of-way, for a total of €20.7m. Work will begin in May 2020 with completion due in June 2022.
