TOTE Maritime Delays LNG Conversion Plans

As part of the company’s adjustments, the first phase of the vessel’s conversion was delayed to late 2019.

Midnight Sun was originally scheduled to undergo the works from mid-December 2018 through early-February 2019.

Additionally, the company’s current conversion schedule will see the RoRo vessel North Star undergo the second phase of the conversion in 2020-2021, while the second phase for the Midnight Sun will be carried out in 2021-2022.

TOTE Maritime Alaska informed that it plans to continue sailing both vessels throughout the year with the exception of routine holiday single-sailings.

“In place of this year’s dry dock period, our team will continue preparing Midnight Sun’s transition to LNG for items that don’t require a dry-dock,” the company said.

The conversion efforts are a part of the company’s plans to convert the Orca class vessels to LNG.
