Eurocontrol receives certification for European AIS Database

TIN news:  The European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) has become the first pan-European aeronautical information service provider (AISP) to receive certification under Single European Sky legislation to provide the European aeronautical information management service (EAIMS).
The EAIM service allows other AISPs to maintain their information in a central repository, where it can be retrieved and downloaded in real-time.
As the world’s largest aeronautical information system (AIS), the European AIS Database (EAD) has been created by Eurocontrol Agency to support the provision of EAIM services and provide a service to states and stakeholders.
EAD aims to ensure the availability of high-quality electronic aeronautical information, which is presented in a harmonised way and caters to the demands of all relevant users in terms of data quality and timeliness.
Eurocontrol Network Manager director Joe Sultana said: “We are pleased to have received the Eurocontrol certification for EAD, which allows us to take this invaluable service to the next level.
“We see EAD as an essential element of the work of the Network Manager as a whole and we look forward to seeing EAD as part of the revision of the network management implementing rule.
"We are pleased to have received the Eurocontrol certification for EAD, which allows us to take this invaluable service to the next level."
“This would allow the EAD to contribute even further to network efficiency and performance.”
Currently, 38 states have integrated the EAD processes and systems in their aeronautical information management solutions, with nine more states planning to join and one still under negotiations.
Apart from the European States, EAD users include countries such as Canada, the Philippines and Brazil.
In 2019, Eurocontrol aims to include the Network Manager certification as the first pan-European service provider of central air traffic flow management.
