  • BANGLADESH Railway (BR) started work on the Padma Rail Link project on July 3 after signing a $US 2.6bn loan with Chinese Exim Bank for the project on April 27.

  • TAIPEI City Government’s Systemwide E&M Project Office (Sempo) has awarded Alstom and Taiwanese engineering and contracting services company CTCI a contract to supply an integrated metro system for Taipei metro Line 7 phase one. The total contract value is €378m, while Alstom’s share is worth close to €220m.

  • POLISH coal mining company JSW and national rail freight operator PKP Cargo have agreed to cooperate to research, analyse and possibly produce new types of hydrogen-powered freight wagons and shunting locomotives.

  • Alstom presented today the first Citadis X05 tram, which will run on all three new lines Caen la mer (Normandy), in the presence of Joël Bruneau, President of Caen la mer, Rodolphe Thomas, First Vice-President of Caen la mer in charge of transport, travel and infrastructure, and Jean-Baptiste Eyméoud, President of Alstom France. 23 trams were ordered by Caen la mer in November 2016. The first deliveries will begin in October 2018 with entry into commercial service scheduled for September 2019.
