  • Australia's Department of Agriculture and Water Resources suspended the live export licence of the company implicated in the death of 2,400 sheep from heat stress onboard the livestock carrier 'Awassi Express' in August 2017.

  • Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) started an investigation into an LNG leak at the Hammerfest LNG plant on 17 June 2018. The incident happened while a road tanker was being filled with LNG at the Equinor facility at Melkøya outside Hammerfest in northern Norway.

  • As US and China are imposing tariffs on each other's goods, President Trump announced that US will go one step further, as it will impose tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods. This comes as an addition to the tariffs on $50 billion of goods from China which are already imposed.

  • Very Large Ore Carrier 'China Steel Innovator' collided with the stern of the berthed containership 'Ever Laden' on June 19, while it was maneuvering in Kaohsiung Port, Taiwan, upon arriving from Australia, carrying ore cargo.

  • Two tankers 'Winner 19' and the 'Shine Luck' ran aground on June 14 due to inclement weather. According to Taiwan's Ocean Affairs Council, a total of 32 crew members of both vessels were rescued, while there are still about 200 metric tones of oil on the two oil tankers. However, no spills have been reported.

  • Panama has imported its first LNG cargo to commission the newly built $1 billion Costa Norte facility and power plant at Colon, expected to be a launch-pad for LNG trade across Central America. The Engie-chartered tanker 'Provalys' arrived last week, carrying a cargo exported from the Sabine Pass plant in Louisiana, in March, Reuters reported.
