PKP Intercity awards coach refurbishment contract

POLISH long-distance operator PKP Intercity has signed a Zlotys 273m ($US 75m) contract with H. Cegielski, Poland, for the modernisation of 60 type 111A/141A coaches, with an option for the refurbishment of a further 30 vehicles.

The coaches will be equipped with air-conditioning, new passenger information systems, new seats, power sockets, mobile reception boosters, passenger Wi-Fi, and retention toilets.

The first refurbished vehicles will be returned to PKP Intercity in the fourth quarter of 2018 and the project will be completed within 30 months of contract signing.
